Alistair is a veteran of Parliament, and current Chair of the DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) Select Committee. He'll be interviewed on stage by our very own Steff Aquarone MP about the challenges facing farming and farming communities; and what the Select Committee has been looking at to help ensure sustainability of our food supply, environment, farming economy, and rural communities.

This month's Liberal Perspective at 7pm on THURSDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER at Bombay Delight on The Broadway, Wimbledon, will feature Wimbledon's MP Paul Kohler and his reflections on his first year as an MP.

Do come along a hear all about what's happening in UK politics and issues affecting Wimbledon and Merton.

Note: Whilst this event is held at the Bombay Delight there is no obligation for any attendee to purchase food or drink from the restaurant. Our hosts very kindly allocate a semi-private room to us and many people do purchase food and drink but you are welcome to attend without doing so.

The future of farming and food production has been thrown into doubt by the Government's farm tax, and put under even more stress by the sudden withdrawal of the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) scheme, and unfavourable trade deals.

But there's even more at stake too: farming is part of our rural communities, as well as a huge stakeholder in and contributor to our beautiful natural environment.

Some UK

politicians become a poster child for its global institutions. Politicians

have attempted to discount the risk of AIIB[1]

and IOMed[2]

to the Rules-Based International Order by framing these institutions in the

language of multipolarity and multilateralism. However, these institutions are not

truly multilateral, as by design they imply and facilitate Chinese, meaning the

CCP, leadership.

And how should we build resilient networks? Labour policy makers seems keen on warming up with China. Yet, our European partners are beginning to grasp discount

the ambition, depth and scale of malign influence in the CCP's whole-of-society approach to defeat the Rules-Based International Order. Why are we living our friends behind? How will this affect strategic resilience?

We discuss these questions ahead of Policy Motion F34.

The object of the meeting is to dispel any doubts delegates might have about how dangerous and unstable the world is, and the real threat to the long peace we in mainland Britain have enjoyed.

Join friends and colleagues from the East of England for a traditional fish and chip supper at the start of conference.

Our restaurant is close to the pier just five minutes walk from the Bournemouth International Centre (where the rally will take place).

We have negotiated a special rate of £14 for a two-course meal and will have exclusive use of a section of the restaurant.

• First course: Cod or Veggie Pie of the Day with chips and a side
• Second course: Ice Cream or Bread & Butter Pudding

Please pay before midnight on Wednesday 17 September to benefit from the £14 deal. The restaurant needs to know how many meals to prepare. Drinks will be charged separately.

This fringe event is your essential guide to understanding this fast-growing community and how to build genuine, effective connections that translate into real electoral wins. Learn who the Hongkongers are, what drives their engagement, and how you can secure their support.

We will also share how CESEA supports candidates and local parties: with experienced campaigners, targeted action days, casework consultation, and vibrant social events that build trust and visibility in the community.

Join elected representatives, council leaders, regional officers and other members from the East of England to network and hear updates over tea, coffee and biscuits.

This venue is a ten to fifteen minutes walk from the Conference Centre (see map).

When you book you will be invited to make a voluntary £5 per person donation towards the cost of holding the reception.
